Hello all, This is gonna be a long post. In celebration of Binance listing UST and LUNA breaking 100$, I would like to update my original post nearly half a year ago on the Terra ecosystem. There's a ton of euphoria right now, and so its always good to take a look back at the fundamentals. A lot has changed since then and by now I'm sure many more people have heard about Terra, maybe even used some of its dapps. For those that are brand new, I recommend reading my original post first. For those wondering if it's too late to get into LUNA, I will present why I think LUNA still has much room to grow. I won't cover every protocol, just the ones I think are most interesting/significant. Still, there's a lot to go through so let's get started. A quick refresher Terra is a blockchain developed by TerraForm Labs based on Cosmos SDK (this is important because it allows Terra to connect to all other blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem, more on this later). Their main products are a suite of algorithmic stablecoins, the most prominent being UST tied to the dollar. UST retains its peg through its relationship with LUNA, where LUNA absorbs the volatility of UST. LUNA is minted when selling UST, and burned when buying UST. In practice, 1$ of LUNA always equals 1$ of UST, even if UST loses its peg. This creates arbitrage opportunities, where if UST is at 1.50$, you can sell 1$ of LUNA for 1.50$ UST and immediately bank 50% profit. This increases supply of UST as people sell LUNA for UST and the peg returns to 1. In reverse, if UST is at .50$, people buy 1$ of LUNA with .50$ UST, which decreases UST supply until the peg returns to 1. I honestly can't imagine a time without stablecoins when people took profits into BTC, itself a highly volatile asset. But stablecoins are also not a risk-less product, they are subject to regulators scrutiny and issued by sometimes shady companies (cough...Tether) that may or may not have the funds available to prevent a bank run. A decentralized stablecoin for defi is a no-brainer, and UST is the best of the best currently (DAI is backed by centralized stablecoins and both DAI and MIM are supply constrained, in that they can only be minted with collateral. There are no limits on how much UST can be minted). Protocols on Terra are important to the extent that they drive organic demand for UST. In other words, LUNA can survive and thrive even if all protocols on Terra die out as long as UST is adopted by other blockchains as their main stablecoin. This sets Terra apart from others, its goal is not competing with Solana, Ethereum, Avalanche, or any of the other L1s, its goal is to create the most robust and usable algorithmic stablecoin for all of crypto. A bet on LUNA is a bet on the adoption of UST. Keep this in mind. This graphic was created in July though at that point we only had Anchor and Mirror running. Now many of these projects have launched or are soon to launch! (though a lot of them are terminated as well) Launched: Anchor, Mirror, Angel, Valkyrie Protocol, Pylon Protocol, StarTerra, Angel, Talis, HERO, Apollo, Spectrum, Orion Money, Kado, Chai, Loterra, LOOP, Stader, Nexus, Harpoon (now Kujira). Soon to launch: Mars, Kinetic, Ozone, Suberra, alice, Levana, Astroport, Prism, Spar, White Whale, Neptune, Glow. I may have missed some so let me know if I did. Even with all these new protocols, the core of the Terra ecosystem is still Anchor, so let's see what has changed since. Anchor: Savings and borrowing Last time I wrote about Anchor it was burning reserves and had just been given a lifeline by TFL. Deposits and borrows were a fraction of what they are today. TVL in the protocol has grown exponentially and is one one of the top 10 defi protocols across all chains. Impressive, considering it operates only on the Terra blockchain whereas many other protocols exist across blockchains. Just recently, Anchor devs announced their intent to make Anchor a cross-chain platform, which would undoubtedly bring in even more capital. On top of that, yield reserves have been growing quite consistently with the addition of bETH and rising value of LUNA. However, with deposits continuing to eclipse borrows, there will eventually come a point when Anchor can no longer sustain its close to 20% interest rate. TFL has been transparent about the fact that the rate cannot be sustained forever, so lowering rates is not cause for panic. Even 15% is far better than any traditional banks or other stablecoin earning dapps/wallets (Celsius 8%, Crypto.com 12%, etc). When this happens, I believe devs should implement a tiered structure of interest rates rewarding those that hold ANC tokens with higher interest. But until then, enjoy your 20% for as long as it lasts :) ​ Current total deposits/borrow vs. the time of my first post. Interestingly, that little blip in borrows during the May crash at the time felt like a disaster. Today you can barely see the drop. Mirror: Synthetic assets 24/7 trading of the most popular stocks from anywhere in the world on the blockchain, what's not to like? Unfortunately, Mirror has run into some problems in its time. At one point holding nearly 2b in TVL, Mirror today has only half of that according to DefiLlama. On Mirror itself, the TVL statistic has been removed from the landing page. What happened to Mirror? I believe there were 3 main factors involved: 1. Execution 2. Regulation 3. Full decentralization Even in its heyday, Mirror listed new assets far too slowly. And when it did, it listed things like mDOT or mBTC, synthetic versions of cryptocurrencies which serves no discernible purpose other than for LPs to farm MIR tokens. Because all anyone was doing was farming MIR, the price of MIR fell and has not been doing much since. Perhaps Mirror could have done better by focusing on more exotic asset classes to list (commodities?) that would attract new capital into the protocol, but it may be too late for that now considering... regulations. It started when Uniswap delisted synthetic tokens from their DEX frontend, this included all Mirror based tokens. Shortly thereafter, we learned that Do Kwon (founder of TFL) was served (albeit unjustly) a subpoena by the SEC at Mainnet 2021 over Mirror. Hardly surprising that the SEC would be concerned about a synthetic stock market. Although Do pushed back against the SEC by suing them back, this created a lot of FUD regarding Mirror and cast its future into shadows. Perhaps as a result of these events, TFL relinquished any control of Mirror and turned it into a fully decentralized protocol run 100% by the community. Although decentralization is regarded as the holy grail in crypto, it became quickly apparent that full decentralization too soon without any leadership is not beneficial to anyone. A quick look at Mirror governance tells the story. Full decentralization without leadership is a mess. Long story short, I think Mirror is unfortunately a dying protocol (contrary to my original thesis) and there's not much I can see that would save it. On the bright side, there are plenty of new protocols that have since launched or are launching that will soak up the value of Mirror, let's take a look at some of the most prominent ones. Launched: NFTs: NFTs arrived on the Terra blockchain with the same insane excitement as any other blockchain. One of the earliest and most hyped projects was Galactic Punks (punks in space) which minted on Randomearth. Since then tens if not hundreds of additional projects have launched and minted. I won't talk about any of them individually in detail as there are just too many. Feel free to browse Randomearth! My personal favorite is definitely Hero. Pylon was the first and incubated by TFL. It uses a clever system called 'Pylon Pools', where users can deposit UST in exchange for tokens from new project launches where the amount is determined based on how long you lock your UST, options being a 3 month/6 month/12 months vesting period. This is a 'risk-less' investment in that you recover your original UST amount at the end of the vesting period, and also allows smoother project launches that dampen price volatility. There is also Pylon Swap, where users that stake Pylon's own governance token MINE are allocated a certain amount of new project tokens in a presale (though these are much rarer with the preferred being Pylon Pools. Overall the protocol works as its intended, though there have been criticisms that MINE stakers are not rewarded enough for holding MINE. The team behind Pylon is working on improving benefits for stakers with recently implemented retroactive airdrops for long term stakers. I am excited to see what other innovative launches they come up with in the future. StarTerra is the first gamified launchpad where stakers are divided into 1 of 3 factions and rewards are allocated differently to the stronger of the factions. To be honest, I have not looked much into this project as their launch was very rocky and received a lot of community distrust. However, I know that since then the team has worked hard to improve their reputation with the community and projects are continuing to partner with StarTerra. Anyone more involved, feel free to comment below on this project! Loterra: If crypto isn't gambling enough, you're welcome to gamble more with Loterra! Basically a lottery protocol that charges 1UST per ticket and draws every 3 days. There are some cool features though. LOTA stakers are rewarded a portion of every lottery winning including jackpots. There is also the ability to play 'lossless' lottery, where it uses Anchor yield to buy recurring tickets whilst keeping your principal amount intact. Orion Money: One of if not the most anticipated and hyped up project launches on Terra which to be honest up to this point has done little more than disappoint. Orion is a stablecoin savings protocol that leverages the yield of Anchor on other blockchains. It allows deposits of USDC, USDT, BUSD, and others on Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon and pays up to 15% interest by converting and depositing these coins into Anchor. It was said to be the one to open the floodgates to the masses. However, Orion has not seen the expected growth as TVL has stagnated and even fallen over the past few months with only a couple hundred million in TVL, this compared to Anchor's 5 billion in UST deposits (over the same period Anchor deposits increased by several billion). Furthermore, Orion hyped up its airdrop for months and required all recipients to stake to the Orion validator in order to be eligible. Months of staking led to a measly 1% of all tokens being airdropped to loyal stakers. Of course, free money is free money, but it still leaves a sour taste in your mouth. With UST now being available on Binance (listed today), Huobi (listed yesterday), Kucoin, and potentially many more exchanges to come, UST on-ramp will become increasingly easy and there is little reason to not use Anchor directly within Terra. That being said, credit is due for a solid team and an innovative product that unfortunately just has not gained much traction. Apollo/Spectrum: Both are yield compounders that do exactly what they are supposed to do, there's not much more to say here. Use them to boost your yield on LP pairs within the Terra ecosystem. Spectrum launched a bit under the radar but has since proved its robustness with audits and UI enhancements. Apollo had a pre-launch token mining program which was a great success and one of the fairest launches to date. Kudos to both platforms. Nexus: Nexus is a yield optimizer leveraging Anchor Earn and Borrow. During the May crash, many accounts borrowing UST on Anchor were liquidated when the price of LUNA used as collateral (called bLUNA) plummeted. New borrowers became hesitant to borrow for fear that they would be liquidated overnight. If there are no borrowers, Anchor Earn cannot sustain its high interest and the protocol would collapse. Nexus aims to help alleviate the problem by providing a system of automated loan managements. You deposit bLUNA into their vault which they use to borrow UST at a preset ratio safe from liquidation and autonomously readjusts itself to maintain the same rate. The borrowed UST is then deposited into Anchor Earn, the interest from borrowing and depositing is used to buy PSI tokens, and the PSI tokens are used to pay interest to those depositing bLUNA into the vault. Kujira: The Japanese word for whale. Contrary to Nexus protecting from liquidations, Kujira aims to allow everyone the opportunity to benefit from liquidations, whereas before, liquidations would be sniped by bots. Kujira lets you bid for liquidated bAssets (bLUNA, bETH) at a discount to their current value by depositing UST. It works like a charm from what I can tell, though I haven't personally used it (feel kind of bad profiting off people being inadvertently liquidated...but free market and all that, the option is there). Stader: Probably the most interesting protocol in this list. Stader is a liquid staking and auto-compounding platform that allows you to stake LUNA without any unbonding period (usually 21 day unlock on TerraStation). The base yield from LUNA is compounded automatically while still allowing stakers to receive all the airdrops they would have received if they had just staked LUNA normally. In exchange for staking LUNA on the platform, you are given a token called LUNAX, which is a representation of your stake much like how your UST turns into aUST when you deposit into Anchor. LUNAX will open up a whole new world of degen leverage opportunities that are currently in the works. Angel provides perpetual donations using yield generated from staked LUNA. It runs a validator for staking LUNA, and all interest generated from staked LUNA is given to charities. It is a great concept and definitely worth supporting. To date they have already donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various charities around the world that you can see on their website. Other launched projects (that I am not very familiar with) include, TerraFloki, Loop, Valkyrie, and maybe others I've missed. And onto the up-and-coming projects, there are a few highly anticipated ones around the corner. Coming soon Astroport: Can you believe Terra has the second highest TVL of any chain without a fully fledged AMM DEX? Neither can I. Astroport, incubated by Delphi Labs (a big investor and supporter of Terra who also helped design Axie Infinity), aims to be Terra's go-to exchange. Currently there is only TerraSwap, which is essentially a re-skinned version of Mirror's backend that leaves a lot of functions to be desired. People who've been in the ecosystem all know the number of times TerraSwap has broken or been hit with stupidly high slippage out of nowhere. Astroport is launching in a few days and is currently in Phase 2 of its 'lockdrop' campaign, a 3 step process to ensure the DEX launches with substantial liquidity already provided and rewarding early providers with ASTRO tokens. It is a bit complex but if you're interested it is quite an innovative model and you can read about it here. Phase 2 is ongoing and you still have the opportunity to contribute to the ASTRO liquidity bootstrapping pool for ASTRO rewards if you want to! https://lockdrop.astroport.fi/active-phase Astroport will make the Terra ecosystem even more robust and give users one more reason to never leave again. The DEX launches in 3 days! Ozone: Terra's native insurance protocol has been in the works for some time. It will allows you to buy insurance in case of UST depeg, smart contract risks, etc. Ozone was funded recently by TFL with ~4 billion UST from burning the LUNA held in their community funds. Last month, Risk Harbor announced they would be in charge of operating Ozone. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/risk-harbor-announces-charge-terras-150000785.html When this project finally launches, it will provide safety assurance for many users, opening up the ecosystem even more to the masses. As a side note, the community pool burn of LUNA resulted in so many fees that will go to pay staking interest that the rewards for staking nearly doubled to around 9-10% per year and will remain consistent for the next few years. Mars: Another project incubated by Delphi Labs, Mars is a lending and borrowing protocol set to launch early next year. Not much is known about it yet, but it is also highly anticipated. You can watch this video to learn more about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2waIb2_jseg&t=394s White Whale: Allows retail investors to help maintain UST's peg and profit from arbitrage opportunities by pooling assets. Levana: Short for Leverage any Asset, basically does what its name suggests. It will allow you to go full degen and buy leveraged assets such as 2x LUNA. What's not to like? Prism: A very innovative protocol that will split yield-bearing assets such as LUNA into principle and yield components, name pLUNA and yLUNA, where one represents the base token and the other represents the future yield of the base token. This allows you to do things like theoretically borrowing against your future yield revenue. I am very excited to see the full functionality of this protocol once it goes live. Airdrops Finally, we can't talk about Terra protocols without talking about airdrops. Almost every protocol launched on Terra has had some form of airdrop to different participants in the ecosystem, particularly LUNA stakers. It is a tradition I expect will continue. Even projects launching on other blockchains have airdropped or will airdrop LUNA stakers, including Comdex and Shade Protocol on Secret Network (all part of overall Cosmos ecosystem). Full airdrop chart, credit to Crypto_Carlosa on Twitter for making and updating it. Beyond Terra Terra now has a whole suite of defi projects driving demand for UST, but UST is not limited to Terra. Since I last wrote about Terra, UST has found its way to Solana, Fantom, Harmony, and linked with other Cosmos blockchains through Cosmos IBC and been listed on Osmosis (the premier DEX for all Cosmos-based blockchains, UST serving as the de-facto stablecoin). As regulation around centralized stablecoins inevitably continues to tighten, I predict defi ecosystems will increasingly adopt UST as their central stablecoin. UST has also appeared on several centralized exchanges since, the most notable being Binance just this morning (a great Xmas gift for all). It is also listed on Kucoin, Huobi (just yesterday), Coinbase Pro, and others. Though being listed on CEXes is not the premier goal of UST, it definitely drives adoption and lowers barrier of entry for anyone who wants to enter the Terra ecosystem, which is a great thing for all. Rumor has it (though not really a rumor anymore since Do Kwon confirmed it) that TFL is in talks with the government of Busan to in some way utilize their stablecoins. If it ever comes to fruition, it would represent a killer use-case and validation for decentralized stablecoins used by a government. However, government bureaucracy moves slow so I wouldn't hold my breath. Spending UST The big question on everyone's minds is how to even spend all that yield, assuming you aren't a complete degen leveraging everything to the limits. So what options are out there? Chai: A payment company that launched with Terra in the beginning and uses Terra stablecoins. It can be used in Korea and is actually a huge use-case for Terra that I haven't mentioned but is worth a further look if you are interested. Crypto.com: My go-to method. Just transfer your LUNA and convert to USDC/USDT (they haven't listed UST yet) and top up your Visa debit card. I don't wanna shill for CDC but fuck it their card is awesome (its metal from second tier up), the benefits are great, and its so easy to use. And just a tip, the Crypto.com app exchange rates are god-awful so its better to sell your LUNA first on Binance or elsewhere and transfer BUSD to CDC over Binance Smart Chain (super low fees), then convert to USDC/USDT to top up (no fees for swapping stablecoins). No one can predict price movements, but with a long term time horizon, strong assets tend to move up and to the right (just look at a long term chart of any asset you can think of, heck even Bitcoin). LUNA is now trading around ATH at 100$, a huge milestone for everyone involved. However, now is not the time to be FOMOing in, this is true for any asset at ATH's. The listing on Binance has been rumored for a while and may prove to be a sell the news event, as LUNA is already up more than 100% in the past month leading to this listing. Hello all, This is gonna be a long post. In celebration of Binance listing UST and LUNA breaking 100$, I would like to update my original post nearly half a year ago on the Terra ecosystem. There's a ton of euphoria right now, and so its always good to take a look back at the fundamentals. A lot has changed since then and by now I'm sure many more people have heard about Terra, maybe even used some of its dapps. For those that are brand new, I recommend reading my original post first. For those wondering if it's too late to get into LUNA, I will present why I think LUNA still has much room to grow. I won't cover every protocol, just the ones I think are most interesting/significant. Still, there's a lot to go through so let's get started. A quick refresher Terra is a blockchain developed by TerraForm Labs based on Cosmos SDK (this is important because it allows Terra to connect to all other blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem, more on this later). Their main products are a suite of algorithmic stablecoins, the most prominent being UST tied to the dollar. UST retains its peg through its relationship with LUNA, where LUNA absorbs the volatility of UST. LUNA is minted when selling UST, and burned when buying UST. In practice, 1$ of LUNA always equals 1$ of UST, even if UST loses its peg. This creates arbitrage opportunities, where if UST is at 1.50$, you can sell 1$ of LUNA for 1.50$ UST and immediately bank 50% profit. This increases supply of UST as people sell LUNA for UST and the peg returns to 1. In reverse, if UST is at .50$, people buy 1$ of LUNA with .50$ UST, which decreases UST supply until the peg returns to 1. I honestly can't imagine a time without stablecoins when people took profits into BTC, itself a highly volatile asset. But stablecoins are also not a risk-less product, they are subject to regulators scrutiny and issued by sometimes shady companies (cough...Tether) that may or may not have the funds available to prevent a bank run. A decentralized stablecoin for defi is a no-brainer, and UST is the best of the best currently (DAI is backed by centralized stablecoins and both DAI and MIM are supply constrained, in that they can only be minted with collateral. There are no limits on how much UST can be minted). Protocols on Terra are important to the extent that they drive organic demand for UST. In other words, LUNA can survive and thrive even if all protocols on Terra die out as long as UST is adopted by other blockchains as their main stablecoin. This sets Terra apart from others, its goal is not competing with Solana, Ethereum, Avalanche, or any of the other L1s, its goal is to create the most robust and usable algorithmic stablecoin for all of crypto. A bet on LUNA is a bet on the adoption of UST. Keep this in mind. This graphic was created in July though at that point we only had Anchor and Mirror running. Now many of these projects have launched or are soon to launch! (though a lot of them are terminated as well) Launched: Anchor, Mirror, Angel, Valkyrie Protocol, Pylon Protocol, StarTerra, Angel, Talis, HERO, Apollo, Spectrum, Orion Money, Kado, Chai, Loterra, LOOP, Stader, Nexus, Harpoon (now Kujira). Soon to launch: Mars, Kinetic, Ozone, Suberra, alice, Levana, Astroport, Prism, Spar, White Whale, Neptune, Glow. I may have missed some so let me know if I did. Even with all these new protocols, the core of the Terra ecosystem is still Anchor, so let's see what has changed since. Anchor: Savings and borrowing Last time I wrote about Anchor it was burning reserves and had just been given a lifeline by TFL. Deposits and borrows were a fraction of what they are today. TVL in the protocol has grown exponentially and is one one of the top 10 defi protocols across all chains. Impressive, considering it operates only on the Terra blockchain whereas many other protocols exist across blockchains. Just recently, Anchor devs announced their intent to make Anchor a cross-chain platform, which would undoubtedly bring in even more capital. On top of that, yield reserves have been growing quite consistently with the addition of bETH and rising value of LUNA. However, with deposits continuing to eclipse borrows, there will eventually come a point when Anchor can no longer sustain its close to 20% interest rate. TFL has been transparent about the fact that the rate cannot be sustained forever, so lowering rates is not cause for panic. Even 15% is far better than any traditional banks or other stablecoin earning dapps/wallets (Celsius 8%, Crypto.com 12%, etc). When this happens, I believe devs should implement a tiered structure of interest rates rewarding those that hold ANC tokens with higher interest. But until then, enjoy your 20% for as long as it lasts :) Current total deposits/borrow vs. the time of my first post. Interestingly, that little blip in borrows during the May crash at the time felt like a disaster. Today you can barely see the drop. Mirror: Synthetic assets 24/7 trading of the most popular stocks from anywhere in the world on the blockchain, what's not to like? Unfortunately, Mirror has run into some problems in its time. At one point holding nearly 2b in TVL, Mirror today has only half of that according to DefiLlama. On Mirror itself, the TVL statistic has been removed from the landing page. What happened to Mirror? I believe there were 3 main factors involved: 1. Execution 2. Regulation 3. Full decentralization Even in its heyday, Mirror listed new assets far too slowly. And when it did, it listed things like mDOT or mBTC, synthetic versions of cryptocurrencies which serves no discernible purpose other than for LPs to farm MIR tokens. Because all anyone was doing was farming MIR, the price of MIR fell and has not been doing much since. Perhaps Mirror could have done better by focusing on more exotic asset classes to list (commodities?) that would attract new capital into the protocol, but it may be too late for that now considering... regulations. It started when Uniswap delisted synthetic tokens from their DEX frontend, this included all Mirror based tokens. Shortly thereafter, we learned that Do Kwon (founder of TFL) was served (albeit unjustly) a subpoena by the SEC at Mainnet 2021 over Mirror. Hardly surprising that the SEC would be concerned about a synthetic stock market. Although Do pushed back against the SEC by suing them back, this created a lot of FUD regarding Mirror and cast its future into shadows. Perhaps as a result of these events, TFL relinquished any control of Mirror and turned it into a fully decentralized protocol run 100% by the community. Although decentralization is regarded as the holy grail in crypto, it became quickly apparent that full decentralization too soon without any leadership is not beneficial to anyone. A quick look at Mirror governance tells the story. Full decentralization without leadership is a mess. Long story short, I think Mirror is unfortunately a dying protocol (contrary to my original thesis) and there's not much I can see that would save it. On the bright side, there are plenty of new protocols that have since launched or are launching that will soak up the value of Mirror, let's take a look at some of the most prominent ones. Launched: NFTs: NFTs arrived on the Terra blockchain with the same insane excitement as any other blockchain. One of the earliest and most hyped projects was Galactic Punks (punks in space) which minted on Randomearth. Since then tens if not hundreds of additional projects have launched and minted. I won't talk about any of them individually in detail as there are just too many. Feel free to browse Randomearth! My personal favorite is definitely Hero. Pylon was the first and incubated by TFL. It uses a clever system called 'Pylon Pools', where users can deposit UST in exchange for tokens from new project launches where the amount is determined based on how long you lock your UST, options being a 3 month/6 month/12 months vesting period. This is a 'risk-less' investment in that you recover your original UST amount at the end of the vesting period, and also allows smoother project launches that dampen price volatility. There is also Pylon Swap, where users that stake Pylon's own governance token MINE are allocated a certain amount of new project tokens in a presale (though these are much rarer with the preferred being Pylon Pools. Overall the protocol works as its intended, though there have been criticisms that MINE stakers are not rewarded enough for holding MINE. The team behind Pylon is working on improving benefits for stakers with recently implemented retroactive airdrops for long term stakers. I am excited to see what other innovative launches they come up with in the future. StarTerra is the first gamified launchpad where stakers are divided into 1 of 3 factions and rewards are allocated differently to the stronger of the factions. To be honest, I have not looked much into this project as their launch was very rocky and received a lot of community distrust. However, I know that since then the team has worked hard to improve their reputation with the community and projects are continuing to partner with StarTerra. Anyone more involved, feel free to comment below on this project! Loterra: If crypto isn't gambling enough, you're welcome to gamble more with Loterra! Basically a lottery protocol that charges 1UST per ticket and draws every 3 days. There are some cool features though. LOTA stakers are rewarded a portion of every lottery winning including jackpots. There is also the ability to play 'lossless' lottery, where it uses Anchor yield to buy recurring tickets whilst keeping your principal amount intact. Orion Money: One of if not the most anticipated and hyped up project launches on Terra which to be honest up to this point has done little more than disappoint. Orion is a stablecoin savings protocol that leverages the yield of Anchor on other blockchains. It allows deposits of USDC, USDT, BUSD, and others on Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon and pays up to 15% interest by converting and depositing these coins into Anchor. It was said to be the one to open the floodgates to the masses. However, Orion has not seen the expected growth as TVL has stagnated and even fallen over the past few months with only a couple hundred million in TVL, this compared to Anchor's 5 billion in UST deposits (over the same period Anchor deposits increased by several billion). Furthermore, Orion hyped up its airdrop for months and required all recipients to stake to the Orion validator in order to be eligible. Months of staking led to a measly 1% of all tokens being airdropped to loyal stakers. Of course, free money is free money, but it still leaves a sour taste in your mouth. With UST now being available on Binance (listed today), Huobi (listed yesterday), Kucoin, and potentially many more exchanges to come, UST on-ramp will become increasingly easy and there is little reason to not use Anchor directly within Terra. That being said, credit is due for a solid team and an innovative product that unfortunately just has not gained much traction. Apollo/Spectrum: Both are yield compounders that do exactly what they are supposed to do, there's not much more to say here. Use them to boost your yield on LP pairs within the Terra ecosystem. Spectrum launched a bit under the radar but has since proved its robustness with audits and UI enhancements. Apollo had a pre-launch token mining program which was a great success and one of the fairest launches to date. Kudos to both platforms. Nexus: Nexus is a yield optimizer leveraging Anchor Earn and Borrow. During the May crash, many accounts borrowing UST on Anchor were liquidated when the price of LUNA used as collateral (called bLUNA) plummeted. New borrowers became hesitant to borrow for fear that they would be liquidated overnight. If there are no borrowers, Anchor Earn cannot sustain its high interest and the protocol would collapse. Nexus aims to help alleviate the problem by providing a system of automated loan managements. You deposit bLUNA into their vault which they use to borrow UST at a preset ratio safe from liquidation and autonomously readjusts itself to maintain the same rate. The borrowed UST is then deposited into Anchor Earn, the interest from borrowing and depositing is used to buy PSI tokens, and the PSI tokens are used to pay interest to those depositing bLUNA into the vault. Kujira: The Japanese word for whale. Contrary to Nexus protecting from liquidations, Kujira aims to allow everyone the opportunity to benefit from liquidations, whereas before, liquidations would be sniped by bots. Kujira lets you bid for liquidated bAssets (bLUNA, bETH) at a discount to their current value by depositing UST. It works like a charm from what I can tell, though I haven't personally used it (feel kind of bad profiting off people being inadvertently liquidated...but free market and all that, the option is there). Stader: Probably the most interesting protocol in this list. Stader is a liquid staking and auto-compounding platform that allows you to stake LUNA without any unbonding period (usually 21 day unlock on TerraStation). The base yield from LUNA is compounded automatically while still allowing stakers to receive all the airdrops they would have received if they had just staked LUNA normally. In exchange for staking LUNA on the platform, you are given a token called LUNAX, which is a representation of your stake much like how your UST turns into aUST when you deposit into Anchor. LUNAX will open up a whole new world of degen leverage opportunities that are currently in the works. Angel provides perpetual donations using yield generated from staked LUNA. It runs a validator for staking LUNA, and all interest generated from staked LUNA is given to charities. It is a great concept and definitely worth supporting. To date they have already donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various charities around the world that you can see on their website. Other launched projects (that I am not very familiar with) include, TerraFloki, Loop, Valkyrie, and maybe others I've missed. And onto the up-and-coming projects, there are a few highly anticipated ones around the corner. Coming soon Astroport: Can you believe Terra has the second highest TVL of any chain without a fully fledged AMM DEX? Neither can I. Astroport, incubated by Delphi Labs (a big investor and supporter of Terra who also helped design Axie Infinity), aims to be Terra's go-to exchange. Currently there is only TerraSwap, which is essentially a re-skinned version of Mirror's backend that leaves a lot of functions to be desired. People who've been in the ecosystem all know the number of times TerraSwap has broken or been hit with stupidly high slippage out of nowhere. Astroport is launching in a few days and is currently in Phase 2 of its 'lockdrop' campaign, a 3 step process to ensure the DEX launches with substantial liquidity already provided and rewarding early providers with ASTRO tokens. It is a bit complex but if you're interested it is quite an innovative model and you can read about it here. Phase 2 is ongoing and you still have the opportunity to contribute to the ASTRO liquidity bootstrapping pool for ASTRO rewards if you want to! https://lockdrop.astroport.fi/active-phase Astroport will make the Terra ecosystem even more robust and give users one more reason to never leave again. The DEX launches in 3 days! Ozone: Terra's native insurance protocol has been in the works for some time. It will allows you to buy insurance in case of UST depeg, smart contract risks, etc. Ozone was funded recently by TFL with ~4 billion UST from burning the LUNA held in their community funds. Last month, Risk Harbor announced they would be in charge of operating Ozone. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/risk-harbor-announces-charge-terras-150000785.html When this project finally launches, it will provide safety assurance for many users, opening up the ecosystem even more to the masses. As a side note, the community pool burn of LUNA resulted in so many fees that will go to pay staking interest that the rewards for staking nearly doubled to around 9-10% per year and will remain consistent for the next few years. Mars: Another project incubated by Delphi Labs, Mars is a lending and borrowing protocol set to launch early next year. Not much is known about it yet, but it is also highly anticipated. Levana: Short for Leverage any Asset, basically does what its name suggests. It will allow you to go full degen and buy leveraged assets such as 2x LUNA. What's not to like? Prism: A very innovative protocol that will split yield-bearing assets such as LUNA into principle and yield components, name pLUNA and yLUNA, where one represents the base token and the other represents the future yield of the base token. This allows you to do things like theoretically borrowing against your future yield revenue. I am very excited to see the full functionality of this protocol once it goes live. Airdrops Finally, we can't talk about Terra protocols without talking about airdrops. Almost every protocol launched on Terra has had some form of airdrop to different participants in the ecosystem, particularly LUNA stakers. It is a tradition I expect will continue. Even projects launching on other blockchains have airdropped or will airdrop LUNA stakers, including Comdex and Shade Protocol on Secret Network (all part of overall Cosmos ecosystem). Since I last wrote about Terra, UST has found its way to Solana, Fantom, Harmony, and linked with other Cosmos blockchains through Cosmos IBC and been listed on Osmosis (the premier DEX for all Cosmos-based blockchains, UST serving as the de-facto stablecoin). As regulation around centralized stablecoins inevitably continues to tighten, I predict defi ecosystems will increasingly adopt UST as their central stablecoin. UST has also appeared on several centralized exchanges since, the most notable being Binance just this morning (a great Xmas gift for all). It is also listed on Kucoin, Huobi (just yesterday), Coinbase Pro, and others. Though being listed on CEXes is not the premier goal of UST, it definitely drives adoption and lowers barrier of entry for anyone who wants to enter the Terra ecosystem, which is a great thing for all. Rumor has it (though not really a rumor anymore since Do Kwon confirmed it) that TFL is in talks with the government of Busan to in some way utilize their stablecoins. If it ever comes to fruition, it would represent a killer use-case and validation for decentralized stablecoins used by a government. However, government bureaucracy moves slow so I wouldn't hold my breath. Spending UST The big question on everyone's minds is how to even spend all that yield, assuming you aren't a complete degen leveraging everything to the limits. So what options are out there? Chai: A payment company that launched with Terra in the beginning and uses Terra stablecoins. It can be used in Korea and is actually a huge use-case for Terra that I haven't mentioned but is worth a further look if you are interested. Crypto.com: My go-to method. It's here folks, the Winter Steam sale, and it will end on January 5th.
So in order to make sure there are no regrets, and you don't miss any great deals, this guide will be divided into more digestible sections. But before we start, for those who have the time and want to explore the sale themselves, here is a direct link to all the JRPGs on sale right now on steam:
1- Even if the link is to a Bundle deal, you can still buy the games in that bundle individually.
2- If multiple games are mentioned in the same series, then they are arranged from top to bottom by story order, top being the first, and then after that the 2nd and so on.
3- There isn't enough space to list everything, so I did what I can, but as always please do help me and your fellow fans by mentioning your own recommendations. Even if it's something I already mentioned.

This is a list of the best deals for the best JRPGs Steam has to offer. This list is contains:

1- JRPG titles sold for almost nothing compared to their quality, every title here is worth getting even if I didn't outright say that.

2- This doesn't mean that you'll 100% like them (Everyone has their own taste), but at the very least, if you ended up not liking them, they are so cheap that you won't feel bad about the money you spent buying them.

2 full games in 1 package. If you're a fan of the series then this is a must play, it dives into the lore more than a lot of the previous games, and also has one of the biggest Digimon rosters till to day.
Even if you're not into the Digimon series, if you're looking for your next fix of Capture/Evolve/Fusion -> Grind -> Capture/Evolve/Fusion -> Grind while you listen to your favorite podcast/music, then no need to wait anymore, with hours upon hours you can easily spend just grinding and completing the game's various content from side-quests, rare monsters, arena, and even tamer team fights. The gameplay is simple, which is a great way to keep your brain off, yet it still has challenge battles now and then to make sure you're doing your job grinding and raising your Digimons.
Note: Cut-scenes are not skippable in these two games, so heads up for those who this might be a deal breaker for them.
What is there to say here, it's Final Fantasy. But in case you're a newcomer, expect a great combat system, mini-games, puzzles, and almost every classic trope and cliche the genre has to offer, there is a reason this series is considered a classic.
If you're asking which ones to go for, then the answer will be different depending on who you ask. But the ones most people agree on, are FF7, FF9, FF10 and FF12.
It's Chrono Trigger, it's been on the number 1 place of more top lists than there have been JRPGs. I think the tags alone are enough to get you ready for the game really. For 7$ they might as well be giving it out for free.
An actual kickstarter JRPG that more than delivered what it set it out for and then more. It went under the radar since release, but it's a great turn-based JRPG with great characters and challenging combat. Then add to that:

• A satisfying crafting system.
• Arena fights.
• Fishing.
• Fun Skill trees.
• A fantastic in-game encyclopedia with an actual incentive to complete.
• A great tiered loot system.
• Dungeons with random events, traps, and side-quests every time you enter.

And last but not least, really great monsters to battle and rare ones to hunt. It's more than worth full price, but right now it's dirt cheap.
Just as with Final Fantasy, I don't know what to say about a classic series like this one. While it's not on the same level as the FF series, but it's still left a great mark in the history of JRPGs, and for that price, it's a steal.
This is a solid game, everything in is polished and balanced to make sure you are having fun collecting new monsters and customizing your team through evolution/skill trees/gear and making the best in-sync party you can. I only wish it was longer, it's not short by any means, but it's not long either. I would say depending on if you're trying to 'catch them all' and explore everything and fight all bosses, this could easily be a 30+ hours game, but if you focus on the story, then it's about 20 to 30 hours.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining that it's short, but that I was having so much fun, that I wish it didn't end.
Probably one of the few games in this that I have yet to play, but I think the steam score and all the awards the game got, speak for themselves.
This Paper Mario style JRPG saw the gap Nintendo left, and knew what JRPG fans are waiting for, so instead of waiting for Nintendo, they decided to patch in that gap in JRPG history on their own. With praise from every where and Overwhelmingly Positive score on steam. why not give it a try ?
This one probably went under the radar when it was ported to PC. But it's a solid Tactical JRPG, with a really fun setting. To save you the time on the story, Imagine Danganronpa as a tactical JRPG and there you go. A really dark Mystery story, filled with plot twists, and some really great customization done in a way that makes sure no 2 playthroughs are the same.
This one is really hard to explain through words alone, but just in case, the VC series is a World War 2 military setting story, where you act as the lead of a squad and take mission to drive back the enemy. The story is drama heavy and the gameplay is tactical turn-based, but it's mixed with real-time third person shooter. You can also make your own army by recruiting different types of solders, training them and upgrading their gear. From rifles to tanks, this is a game you have to experience to understand.
Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children is an amazing game, with complex and deep gameplay system, add to that a varied and loveable character cast, and more importantly, a very interesting and really fun world.
The plot is set in a contemporary earth, but one where mutants exist, think X-men but with less earth shattering powers and more practical ones. So it's really fun to see how the world and characters deal with these powers, how they affect technology, social classes, crime and crime fighting, and even the fauna and flora of the world. All of that is accompanied by a beautifully hand drawn art and amazing soundtrack.
That alone is worth the price of admission, but then you add the fact you can spend easily tens, no, hundreds of hours just customizing everything about your characters, from their gear, different classes, and a huge and expansive skill system and skill mastery system where you can learn loot skills from your enemies. Then on top of that add monster raising and robot collecting.
Seriously, what are you waiting for ? The devs still update the game every week till now with new content (go and check the steam page updates), EVEN THOUGH THE GAME WAS RELEASED A WHOLE YEAR AGO! they even gave out their first big DLC content FOR FREE, They even reply to every review personally till this day, we are talking over 5K reviews here.
Note: The English translation is a bit rougher in the prologue grammar wise, but it's perfectly understandable. As for the rest of the game, it will swing between great to understandable but needs some work. Nothing that will hinder your enjoyment ether way
It's the Disgaea series, so go in expecting to spend hours and hours customizing your characters, leveling up to lv999999, laughing your ass off at the non-stop comedy, parodies and just plain shenanigans that deceptively lure you into a sense of hilarity, and then POW! a sudden and deep punch in the feels when you least expect it.

First off, I do realize that the first game in the series (Prelude to the Fallen) isn't really dirt cheap, but I had to put it here to have all the games in one place.
The Entire Series is on Steam now. This fantastic Visual Novel Style tactical game is one hell of a ride from start to end. If you're looking for a fantasy JRPG with amazing world building and an epic of story that expands three whole games, there is no reason to not get this whole series. Drama, Comedy, Mystery, Action, Horror, Fan-service, Betrayal, Revenge, Adventure, etc... this the whole package here when it comes to story, world, and characters. Just don't expect it to be heavy on gameplay and combat.
Prelude to the Fallen is the first game story-wise, and while the story is fantastic, I won't lie to you that they didn't really update the gameplay to the standards of the other two games in the series. Still the gameplay isn't really where the game shines anyway, and once you get into the other 2 games after this one, the gameplay gets much better.
The 2nd game is Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and after that is Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth.
Are you tired of happy bright and colorful JRPGs, and you want something serious, dark, and with depth that leaves you unable to sleep at night, because you're contemplating the nature of man and A.I. Do you like amazing looking action and the great combat platinum games are known for ? Then here you go.
You can't go wrong with any of these, I personally would say start with Symphonia for the classic epic fantasy adventure with all the usual classic JRPG tropes. Or go for Berseria for a dark revenge story with a ragtag scallywag group of misfits grouped by fate type of deal. You can start with Vesperia if you want a main character with a chill personality and his companion is pipe smoking dog with. There is also the newly released and critically acclaimed Tales of Arise that comes with a free demo you can try before buying.
No matter which game you choose, this is a solid series if you want action combat, an anime shounen adventure story, with lots of party banter, side-quests, and post-game content.
You like the concept of being in an MMO, with 3 games in 1 and with an extra new episode to wrap the story up, you'll be getting more than you money's worth for sure. Not just with the MMO setting, but also a fresh approach to side-quests and world exploration, it's a classic that is more than worth giving a try.
3 games in 1, means this will last you a long time, even longer if you're the type of person who likes to explore and experiment. The combat isn't as free and smooth as in the Tales series, but it still feels good to use and with 20+ characters who can your party, and who you can build your relationships with, you'll be pretty busy for a long time.
The story is very anime trope, and the main character is the cool type that is focused on his revenge trip, but pretty much an edge lord. If you are into shounen battle type writing, then you'll easily get into this one.
For 70$, you get the entire Yakuza series, of course not counting the latest Yakuza game (Like A Dragon). Still, you are getting 7 full amazing games, for the price of 1 'triple A' title. I feel embarrassed to even try to convince you to get this at this price.
Let me break it down for you, we are talking about a story heavy series, with lots of drama and plot twists, amazing fights, crazy amount of activities and min-games to take part in. A satisfying beat'em up combat where you feel each punch, kick and Suplex. Romance, Betrayal, UFO Catcher, Mini-Car racing, Friendship, Mystery, Murder, Host Club simulator, Puyo Puyo, Clan Wars RTS, Tragedy, Revenge, Karaoke, etc....
What are you waiting for ?

This is a case of a whole series is filled with great games, it's really hard to go wrong here.
But if you're going to choose one, then this one is an easy pick. Fantastic soundtrack ? check! Great Smooth Action gameplay ? check! Dogi the wall breaker ? check! Base building and crafting ? check! and check! So if you're looking amazing music while you hack and slash your way through monsters and bosses, then Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is easily your go to game.
Father left you with a crushing dept, so the loan shark who came to collect, who turns out to be a cute fairy, tells you that she will will help you get back on your feet by managing your item shop, so yu can pay your debt. Otherwise she'll take your store and kick you out.
Craft, hire mercenaries to crawl through dungeons, collect loot, fuse loot, or simply sell it in your shop, earn money, expand, craft some more, hire better mercenaries to crawl through bigger and more dangerous dungeons, and repeat. It's way more fun than it sounds, and even though it's really old, it's still one of the best, if not thee best game in the item shop managing genre. With charming characters that you'll get to know more about as you grow your shop, from the different mercenaries, to your business rivals, to all the weird customers, this is a game worth having.
This is the indie game that puts 'Triple A' games to shame. I don't even know where to begin really...the soundtrack ? the beautiful and amazing pixel graphics ? satisfying and impactful combat ? great side-quests and bosses ? fun and great dungeons ? the sheer amount of content and work that went into this game, and into making it feel like you're really in an MMORPG is jaw dropping. All of that for 13$ ? O_o...If you're still on the fence, you can give the free demo a try first.

Ok now that we are done with all the best dirt cheap games, now we will move on to all the great games that you can get in this sale even if they aren't really that cheap, but still are better than paying full price.

Critically acclaimed and at the top of most lists for 2020 and winner of so many awards, this is easily a big turning point for the Yakuza series.
Don't miss out on the game that literally made them change the combat for the future games, from action to turn-based, with it's Main Character (Ichiban Kasuga) winning the number 1 spot for the best character for 2020. The Yakuza series was already crazy fun, and now it's Turn-based. I think the steam score and more than 10K reviews are enough to show how good the game is.
I don't know if there is anything to say here really. Story-wise, it's Southpark, expect a lot of jokes and parodies, vulgar and even offensive jokes. Nudity, and farts....a lot and a lot of fart jokes.
Gameplay-wise, I have to say I was surprised how solid the game is, as far as show or movie adaptations go, this is way above any of them. Fun and really well thought out combat system for both games. Stick of Truth is a classic turn-based combat system, while Fractured but Whole is a tactical turn-based game.
As usual, I have never heard of this series before, but a friend told me it's a hidden gem, so might as well give it a try if you have the chance. Just be aware that it's a very, and I mean very, slow burn. If you're not into games that take their time to build up story and world of the game, and slowly raise the stakes as you learn more about the world and it's characters, this is probably not for you.
You want a Tactical Mecha game focused on the Gundam universe, but mainly the AU era, with great graphics/animation, crazy amount of customization and days worth of playtime ? that's a very specific request, but here you go, Cross Rays brings you amazing Metal on Metal smack down! with a huge (and I mean huge) list of Mechs to develop, evolve, capture, fuse, exchange, and unlock throughout a long and satisfying story campaign, and a customization system deep and varied enough to lose days of your life on. You can even customize your original characters, and even choose the OST for each individual attack for each mech.
With multiple difficulties from the get go, and more unlocked once you finish the game, a full playthrough (not 100%) just through the story missions, is easily 100+ hours, but since the game is built on a missions based system, where you can choose to play any story at any time and switch from series to another at your will, you can at your own pace, and there is no need to finish everything since because you can simply stop when you have had enough.
If you're looking for a deep tactical combat, this isn't it, but if you're looking for trip through some of the best stories in the Gundam universe, and one of the best Gundam/Mecha games with fantastic animations and deep and expansive customization, this is it.
If you're looking for that great Isekai fantasy adventure feel, then these two games are where it's at. Fantastic visuals and great music, coupled with a great art style, a combo that is perfect for a chill and relaxed gaming experience. Especially when talking about the first game, with the help ofStudio Ghibli, they managed to make a truly whimsical world with that Studio Ghibli classic touch.

For a the best fantasy adventure feel, while the combat is a hit or miss depending on your taste, don't let that stop you from actually diving into a true fairy tale world, this is the one with the better story in my opinion, so if you want more story than game, this is for you. Still it has a good share of gameplay, from raising and collecting Pokemon-like monsters, to learning and using different spells, not just in combat but for the overworld too.
This one focuses more on gameplay, with a Kingdom builder, Army battles, Heavy loot focus, and even character collector, this is the one to go with if you want more game than story. Still has the great music and he fantastical art style and setting. Add to that a lot of side activities like beating rare monsters, collecting cute creatures to help you in battle, and even going around the world to gather people to help you build your kingdom. You'll never be short on things to do.
A Remake of a classic that certainly did it's best to bring a title we never got in the west for a long time to the western fans and up to today's standards, If you're in need of the next hack and slash action fix, then this could be it.
While the story isn't the deep or complex out there, there is a lot replayability, story-wise and gameplay-wise, because you get to choose 3 out of the 6 main characters for your party, and each has their stories and unique class and skill trees.
To keep things short and simple, it's a side-scrolling action JRPG that was one of the biggest releases in 2020, in fact in the Japanese Dengeki magazine, it won the Game of the Year in the Famitsu , along with The Last of Us 2, FF7R, and Ghost of Tsushima. It also won:.

• Best Rookie of the year.
• Best Action game of the year.
• Best Indie Game of the year.

The game has:

• Great and satisfying combo and juggling action beat'em up combat.
  
• Rice Farming, which is the other main focus of the game, it comes with all the things you'd expect a farm-sim would come with.
  
• Crafting weapons/armor and cooking meals.
  
• Collecting resources and crafting materials.
  

You can even go Dual-Wielding Dogs that is...come on...and that's a free update. Don't worry, you don't use them as weapons.
A very light on story, but very heavy on content and gameplay. An amazing game with so much customization and monsters to fight and even collect each monster's special skill. Add to that skills from your weapons, spells and even special shards. All of them can level up and improve and transform, to the point you'll be having more than you'll ever know what to do with.
But what if that isn't enough ? well strap in, here are some of the modes you access in the game:

• Play the Classic Mode, where it re-imagines the entire game as a retro action game made back in the NES days.
  
• Play the entire game as one of the other 2 character beside Miriam, with their own special skills and abilities.
  
• Boss Revenge Mode, where you take control and play as one of the different bosses in the game.
  
• Randomizer Mode, where you can switch and swap items/skills/bosses/enemies/etc... randomly, making each visit truly different from the one before it.
  

This and still more content to come as you can see in their road map. So for that price, this is a no brainer.

Preface on choosing a distro:
I distro hopped all day for like 4 days, though just between Fedora, Pop!_OS, and Ubuntu.
I can preface this to say I am not a huge tinkerer, I use my computers to get work done, and I don't want to get distracted by configuring every little thing. So being 95% of what I want out of the box is very important to me.
What attracted me to Fedora was:

• very up-to-date - I figured for multi-monitor support, scaling, trackpad stuff, and bluetooth, etc, I probably want to be on the latest stuff
• known for the Gnome being very vanilla/not mangled with extensions that cause problems like Ubuntu Gnome
• I have used Ubuntu briefly in the past and god damn was it a) visually ugly and b) a general pain in my ass (constant crashing during sleep, when hooked up to external monitors, showing the whole desktop when it's supposed to be locked, etc. Also snaps = bad, fuck Canonical for that and the Amazon ads they had baked in last time I used Ubuntu
• I have used Pop!_OS briefly in the past and I do not like auto tiling - beyond that and the fact that it's not as ugly as Ubuntu Gnome out of the box, I don't see a value prop for myself, although I really like System76 as a company and I am typing this on a Launch Keyboard.
• I have used Manjaro in the past, but KDE was meh and most importantly, the Manjaro M that gets printed out by neofetch is really ugly and misaligned, plus I have heard about all the breakage that Manjaro can cause

What actually became the final deciding factor was the basic manual tiling features that come with Fedora 35 Gnome - not sure if its vanilla Gnome 41 or Fedora configuring this, but the super-left-super-right to snap a window to one half of the screen, super-up to maximize, and super-down to unmaximize, it's all great and it's closest to the Mac app called Rectangle I use and love. Rectangle also supports snapping to two-thirds or one-third of the screen - would love to see this added to Gnome.

The Good
Almost everything!
Gnome 41 workflow is very familiar coming from MacOs.
dnf is great and just works
Docker runs natively and therefore doesn't murder my battery as bad
For the most part, everything else is great and just works. Like I said since I am not a tinkerer, 'just works' is most important to me, along with a familiar workflow. Next most important is it looking good.
There were a handful of things I had to adjust in my zshrc, Kitty terminal config, and vimrc, but honestly not a lot at all for switching platforms.
The Bad
The following things haven't stopped me, but are things that really need to be fixed for Linux to be even close to MacOS non-power-user-friendliness. I have been able to work through these because as a software engineer I am used to having futzing with configuration and trying lots of different things. I do not really think a normal person off the street would have necessarily been able to power through these bluetooth and audio issues.

1. Gnome settings bluetooth manager straight up does not work. I have to use blueman. Clicking a bluetooth device in the Gnome bluetooth manager and the clicking connect or pair simply does nothing, except for the first time you connect. It is unbelievable that the desktop environment does not ship with a functioning bluetooth UI.
2. Why hell do I need Gnome-Tweaks to change the system fonts and theme? The fact that this isn't baked into Gnome is an embarrassment. Also, I really need to turn off middle-click paste because I keep hitting it by accident on my Apple Mouse (I am working on getting another mouse that's not just one button and therefore harder to accidentally middle-click). However, turning off middle=click paste with Gnome tweaks or command line config simply does not work at all.
3. No bluetooth headset mode with high-quality audio. You can either have high-quality audio in your headset, but not use it as a mic, since the audio is only one-way, or you can use it as two-way with bad quality audio output. Research seems to show that this is an all-of-linux thing, not just Fedora or Gnome. This is very janky and shitty for the current year, and straight up shocking coming from MacOS
4. XWayland with any scaling is bad, not just non-integer scaling. I use IntelliJ IDE products, which are Java apps, which can't run under pure wayland, so I have to use it unscaled with giant font, which crowds the UI. (yes I have tried the hacks in the Arch Wiki) All in all not a great experience. I really hope this can get fixed, because while there are plenty of great editors that work with Wayland, JetBrains visual debugging and refactoring experience is just unparalleled and makes me a better engineer. Maybe their upcoming Fleet editor will be the best of both worlds?
5. An update broke audio stuff for a day or so, right when I first started setting up, which I thought was a permanent Fedora-specific issue, which led to some of the unnecessary distro-hopping
6. Default Gnome theming has improved but is still ass ugly. Main thing is that amount of padding on the title bars. It looks like it's made for blind 90 year olds that can't locate a window or figure out what the window is unless half of the screen space is title bar. I use Nordic-darker-v40 now, which has drastically reduced titlebar space on my screen, thank god. But again, out of the box is just visually not great.
7. It was really hard to find stuff about the packages needed to compile Python for Fedora. I finally found this, which saved my life: https://stribny.name/blog/install-python-dev/ . More generally, most GitHub issues or development resources only list APT package names, and it can be really hard to figure out the equivalent package name on Fedora.

One final minor thing, but something that cost me a lot of time: Fedora's vim package does not come with clipboard support compiled in, which I did not realize and led to some frustrating rabbit holes. You have to download vim-x11 to get a vim with clipboard support compiled in - which you wouldn't think you would need a package called 'vim-x11' if you're on wayland.
Conclusion: Love Linux, love having control over my machine. Things have come a long way. Things are still a bit rough around the edges for a non-power user.
I haven't seriously used Windows for years now since I needed it to run engineering stuff in college, but I would say Gnome 41 in particular gives a less-janky experience than Windows 10. I would not have said that a few years ago when I first tried Ubuntu.
EDIT: I love the positive discussions here. I really tried to frame my criticisms as a general purpose user who wants to see the ecosystem succeed. “I switched away from [other OS]” seems to generate more positive discussion than “distro or DE X good, others bad”.

1. The episodes are named after famous (mainly romance) movies? Dang, this is brilliant writing
   
2. I find it somewhat poignant that YS and JW are so similar in their backgrounds in the sense that they were coming from poverty and lack of a complete family unit ; literally as JW says, there’s always a third character in these stories, and both YS and JW are like two sides of the same coin, but with very different reactions to their contrast to CW’s circumstances
   
3. This week’s episodes broke my heart ; and the saddest line today had to be YS saying she wished she was able to be poor to the extent that she could handle
   
4. I literally breathed in the many insightful comments here in the threads (lol) and one of it was that people who feel abandoned would tend to give up / let go first as they believe that it is only a matter of time before they get abandoned anyway. - in this episode, despite YS being so incredibly perceptive and self aware, she was unduly harsh on herself by concluding that it was her pride that caused their breakup. imo, it was really tough for her to grapple with such responsibilities (medical bills and living expenses) and I can see why she finds it unbearable when juxtaposed against CW who seemingly had all the choices in the world
   
5. The only cute moment I saw today was eun ho’s meta reference to the infamous netflix’s TU-DUM! for CW’s debut 😂😂😂😂 other than that, I think it was largely me holding up my nose and dabbing the corners of my eyes - what in the world would this be categorised as rom-com?!! 😭
   
6. CW’s mum and dad are the best people I have seen in kdrama universe - not only were they not angry at the son’s ex gf for the god-awful breakup, they even invite her back for a meal and comforted YS. I say this with all earnestness because I wouldn’t do that if I were them, lol.
   
7. Since everyone have commented on weird camera angles that led to weird theories like the scenes with the grandma was shot like YS was talking to herself, I too, would like to add that the scene where JW picked up YS when she was drunk and the next scene was her slumped over a metal table with green-cast light had me in a panic for a moment thinking that I am now in a beyond-evil crime scene 😱😱😱 too much kdramas can actually be a bad thing, I think 😂
